Wednesday: Luján Attends Home Donation Ceremony for Wounded Army Veteran

Rio Rancho, NM – Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), the U.S. House Assistant Speaker, will attend the presentation of a newly-renovated, mortgage-free home to injured veteran, Army Spc. Jason Thompson at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019 Luján will deliver remarks during the home presentation.

Thompson enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 2009 and was stationed in Germany in 2010 before deploying to Afghanistan. During his service in Afghanistan, he experienced five separate mortar and rocket fire blasts, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury. Thompson received multiple awards for his service including a Combat Infantryman Badge and a Purple Heart and medically retired in June 2018. The home is being donated by U.S. Bank through its Housing Opportunities after Military Engagement (H.O.M.E.) program, in conjunction with Freedom Alliance. This is the second home donated in New Mexico through this program.
