Udall to Continue Serving on Five Key Committees for NM

Udall will serve as senior member of Senate Appropriations, Indian Affairs, Commerce, Foreign Relations and Rules & Administration Committees.

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-N.M.) welcomed the opening of the 116th Congress and announced that he will continue to serve on five key committees for New Mexico:

  • Committee on Appropriations
  • Committee on Indian Affairs – Vice Chairman
  • Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation
  • Committee on Foreign Relations
  • Committee on Rules and Administration

“I’m deeply honored to continue serving New Mexico as a senior member of the Senate Appropriations, Indian Affairs, Commerce, Foreign Relations, and Rules and Administration Committees,” Udall said. “Together, these assignments will enable me to keep championing the issues that matter most to New Mexico – and with the partnership of so many across our state, to help build a brighter future for New Mexico families. In this Congress, I will keep fighting to make strong investments in good jobs, education, and public safety and in our world-class national labs, bases, public lands, and rural communities; increase opportunities for Native communities across Indian Country; protect New Mexico consumers and ensure New Mexico’s small businesses remain competitive; expand access to broadband in rural areas and invest in our thriving space industry, innovative technologies, and public transportation; stand for U.S. values abroad; and enact reforms to our campaign finance system and to restore accountability to our democracy. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to continue advancing New Mexico priorities, and ensuring long-term economic growth, prosperity, and opportunity for all New Mexicans.”

Udall continued, “I am also proud to congratulate Senator Heinrich and Congressman Luján on being sworn in for new terms, and to welcome Congresswoman Haaland and Congresswoman Torres Small to Congress. Our delegation represents the strength, diversity, and energy of our state, and we will be hard at work for New Mexico. I’m excited to partner with each member of our delegation to stand up for New Mexico values and priorities in Congress.”
