WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representative Xochitl Torres Small announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded $750,000 to New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) College of Engineering to create the Innovation and Commercialization for Regional Energy Workforce (I-CREW). The I-CREW program will focus on accelerating clean energy technology and developing a statewide clean energy workforce.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Tom Udall, vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, and U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján, Assistant Speaker of the House, along with U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representatives Deb Haaland and Xochitl Torres Small, introduced bicameral legislation to improve Medicaid for Native patients who receive services at Urban Indian Health Programs. The Urban Indian Health Parity Act is also cosponsored by ten other U.S. Senators and 13 other members of the House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Tom Udall and U.S. Representative Deb Haaland, along with Senator Martin Heinrich and Representatives Ben Ray Luján, Assistant Speaker of the House, and Xochitl Torres Small, introduced bipartisan legislation to prohibit school “lunch shaming” – the practice of discriminating against or stigmatizing children who have outstanding credit or don’t have enough money to pay for meals at school.

Washington, D.C. – On Friday, New Mexico’s congressional delegation announced nearly $3 million in Health and Human Services (HHS) funding to fight the opioid crisis in New Mexico. The $2,770,397 in funding comes from grants released to states through the State Opioid Response Grant Program.
