Pojoaque Valley High School’s Michaela Martinez will get to continue playing the sport she loves after signing a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM during a ceremony attended by family and friends, May 26, at her home in Chimayo.
LANL Foundation has proudly awarded 17 Northern New Mexicans $1000 Regional College/Returning Student scholarships from the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund. These scholarships help nontraditional students return to formal education to expand job opportunities or pursue new careers with a certification or two-year degree from a local, accredited college or university.
Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) is now accepting applications for 2016 awards. The largest scholarship pool in Northern New Mexico, LAESF supports students who are residents of Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe and Taos counties seeking four-year degrees in fields that serve the region.
Students from throughout the region were presented with scholarship checks at a LANL Foundation event on Friday in Espanola as 910 LANL employees and contractors came together to provide over $357,000 in funds for local students to attend college. Read about the local scholars and event here.
