Public Transit Provides Vital Services for Those with Disabilities

Having been blind from birth, public transit is a vital part of my daily life. I’ve lived in Santa Fe since 1982, and have been a regular transit rider since paratransit services began in the early 1990s.

Many veterans are returning home from combat without the help to find housing, treatment, counseling or health care policies. Statistics shows that as of January 2015, there were 47,725 homeless veterans. They accounted for 11% of the homeless population. This number has dropped 4% from 2014. Of the homeless veteran population, 9% are female and 57% of the homeless veterans are white. This percentage is totally unacceptable…

Op Ed: Acequias Left High & Dry By Governor Vetoes

Each year, the local legislators of the community fund individual acequia projects.  Projects that are dire.  Projects that cannot receive funding from other sources.  Projects that would not be competitive for other water infrastructure money.  Many acequias rely on legislative capital outlay resources to operate; for new presas and pipes, for diversions and repairs.
This year ALL of that acequia money, appropriated by legislators to individual acequias, was vetoed by the Governor.
