Thursday morning the Northern New Mexico College Board of Regents met in executive session to make their final selections for the new president of the Española and El Rito based college. The board soon came out of executive session and announced that they had selected Dr. Richard J. Bailey Jr. as the new President of Northern.

Monday evening  Northern New Mexico College held a public forum to present the four finalists for the position of President at NNMC. For two hours the four finalists presented their personal vision for the college and took questions from the audience. 

The four remaining candidates each took about 10 minutes to introduce themselves to the audience of nearly 150 community members gathered at the forum event

The College of Education and the Northern Pueblos Institute at Northern New Mexico College will be continuing the P’ôe Pathways Lecture Series this spring semester. The next speaker of the series will be Dr. Debbie Reese (Nambe Pueblo). Dr. Reese’s book chapters and articles about the ways Native peoples are depicted in children’s and young adult books are taught in Library Science and Education classes in the United States and Canada. A former schoolteacher and professor, she is invited to give lectures and workshops designed to build awareness of stereotypes in classic and award-winning books and suggest better books by Native writers…
