Consumer protection bill passes unanimously

Santa Fe, N.M. – On Thursday, the House of Representatives unanimously passed House Bill 207 to protect New Mexicans from surprise billing costs. House Bill 207, sponsored by Rep. Nathan Small (D-Las Cruces), protects people with health insurance from out of network and unexpected billing costs.

Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District spoke Friday Oct. 9, at a Health Subcommittee hearing, “Examining Legislative Proposals to Combat our Nation’s Drug Abuse Crisis.”

Luján discussed legislation he introduced earlier this week to enhance treatment programs for pregnant and postpartum women who are suffering from substance use disorders.
