NM Department Of Workforce Solutions Receives Federal Grant To Increase Apprenticeships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ‒ The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) was notified last week that it has been awarded a $815,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to increase apprenticeships across the state. The overarching goal of the project is to increase the total number of apprentices by 25 percent over the award period while ensuring job placement in middle- to high-skilled jobs upon program completion.

(Albuquerque) –The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) is working closely with the New Mexico Restaurant Association (NMRA), Association of Commerce and Industry (ACI), and the Statewide Chamber Executives (SCE) to educate employers on minimum wage requirements and the state statutes around labor law.

(Santa Fe) –The New Mexico State Senate unanimously confirmed Bill McCamley as the Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions with a vote of 35-0 on Monday, February 4, 2019. The Senate commended the new Cabinet Secretary on his enthusiasm and commitment to tackling many of the workforce issues and developing real pragmatic solutions to the state’s workforce needs.
