The effects of the very dry winter we just experienced are starting to show up. Streamflows throughout New Mexico are running well below normal for this time of year. On the plus side, this makes the rivers and streams easier to fish because they are not swollen with spring runoff. One of the downsides is there will be less water available for irrigation. The water levels in our reservoirs will likely drop dramatically as the summer heats up. This could be a tough year for farmers and ranchers...
