The final score may have looked like a solid 10-point win for the Pojoaque Valley High School Elks, but things were looking less than good at one point in their 71-61 win over the Socorro High School Warriors Dec. 8 at Pojoaque.

Pojoaque Wrestling Team

History was made at Ben Lujan Gymnasium Dec. 8 when Pojoaque Valley High School hosted a duals wrestling meet against Los Alamos High School. It was the first wrestling meet in the history of Pojoaque, which added a wrestling program to its athletic program this season.

The Espanola Valley High School Sundevils scored the first 18 points of the fourth quarter,seizing control of what had been a close game and defeating the Gallup High School Bengals 66-60 in Espanola’s opening game of the boys basketball season Nov. 25 at Espanola.

Forget about taking on an easy opponent to begin your season. The Espanola Valley High School Lady Sundevils faced Carlsbad High School Nov. 12 in their opening game of the season at Espanola. The tall and talented Lady Cavemen were Class 6A semifinalists at the state basketball tournament and boast five players on their roster taller than Espanola post Alexis Lovato, who at 5 feet, 10 inches is Espanola’s tallest starting player. Carlsbad used that advantage to run away from the Lady Sundevils in the second half for a 70-55 victory...
