Scenes From EVHS Graduation Day

ESPAÑOLA  – On Saturday the Española  community came together to celebrate the graduation of 40th class to come out of Española  Valley High School. The Class of 2015 Sundevils heard from a number of prestigious speakers including the keynote speaker, the Honorable Orlinda Naranjo, an Española  alum who now serves as  a District Judge in Austin, Texas. Judge Naranjo spoke about the strength of believing in yourself and always pushing past the barriers life puts in front of you.

The students also took some time to remember one of their own who did not live to see graduation. Derek Martinez was honored by his fellow students and his mother Paula Paña spoke for him and received his diploma.

What may have been the most poignant moment of the ceremony was when class of 2015 Jessica Pacheco sang an original song composed for graduation day, titled “We are the Valley.”

See below for some images from the day.
