Police Identify Popular Recording Artist Ernestine Romero As One Of Two People Found Dead In Santa Fe Thursday

Santa Fe police have confirmed that one of the two people found shot to death in Santa Fe Thursdau was popular recording artist Ernestine  Saucedo, 32 – who performed under her maiden name, Ernestine Romero – and her husband Jessie Saucedo, 34. The two were found in a white BMW SUV parked near the Jerry Apodaca Education Building in the 300 block of Don Gaspar.

Romero was also employed by the New Mexico Public Education Department. A state employee discovered the bodies and contacted the police.

Santa Fe police are investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide.

Romero released the first of 9 CDs when she was 11 years old. She was awarded "CD of the Year,” "Cumbia Song of the Year” and "Salsa Tropical Song of the Year" at the 2016 New Mexico Hispano Music Association Music Awards.
