The Valley Daily Post, in cooperation with Pojoaque Athletics and our sponsor, Henry Valencia Inc., is proud to presents the Pojoaque Elks Athlete of the Week.

This week the Pojoaque Valley High School Senior Consuelo Quintana is the Henry Valencia Elks Athlete of the Week.

The Valley Daily Post supplied Quintana with a questionnaire and here are her answers.

What do you hope to get out of running cross country?

To make great friends and memories, but also to push myself to make my team better.

What are your favorite subjects at school?

Who do you credit with your success in athletics or who do you admire?

My Mom, because she’s always pushed me to try new sports.  And she was the one who encouraged me to start running even though I was hesitant.

What do you want to do after high school? College? Where and what will you study?

I want to go to college to study chemical engineering or sports medicine. I plan to go to either N.M. Tech or Regis University. I hope to continue running.

Coach Question-What makes this athlete stand out?

Consuelo Quintana is an example of scholar/athlete with great success in the classroom and continued success as an athlete. She has run cross-country at Pojoaque for four years and has been a successful member of the team, including a third-place team state trophy two years ago. She has been one of the top team runners for these years, including this her senior year.
