The obituaries for Patricio Neri Martinez (Pat), Lionel Carlitos Martinez, and Diane Marie Garcia have been provided by the respective funeral homes or family members. Please read on for full details.


Patricio Neri Martinez (Pat) of Chimayo

Patricio Neri Martinez (Pat), age 74, a resident of Chimayo was called to his eternal resting place into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on November 16, 2017.  Pat was a retiree from the SW Carpenters Union along with his love for the outdoors, raising cattle, cutting and bailing fields of hay and of course El Jardin (garden) lots of green chili and corn. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Arcelia Martinez, Parents Remigio and Sofia Martinez, Brother Manuel Martinez Sr., Nephew Manuel Martinez Jr. and Granddaughter Erica Rosales. 

Patricio is survived by his children, Veronica Martinez, Steven Martinez, Cynthia (Michael) Gallagher, Malisa Martinez Rosales, Bridgette Martinez and Shane Medina, Sister Joann (Amos) Atencio, Brother Antonio (Eileen) Martinez.   Grandchildren, Leondro (Stephanie) Rivera, Marcos Rivera, Antonio Martinez, Bryan Gallagher, Leandra (Byron) Jovel, Christy Gallagher, Jose Miguel Rosales, Jose Martin Rosales,  Jose Manuel Rosales, Brittany Maidment and Brooke Reed. Greatgrandchildren, Aubrey, Trevor and Julia Rivera, Gabriel Gasca, Allesandra Rose Gallagher, Eliana Erica Jovel, Jose Martin Jr. Rosales, Goddaughters, Rebecca Martinez (Becky) and Aylene (Laney) Lucero and many other family, extended family and friends. 

The Martinez family would like to express their sincere thanks to all family and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Special thanks to Jose Miguel Rosales, Arthur Valdez, Justin Martinez, Steve Russell, Nick Tafoya, Addus Homecare, Del Corazon Hospice and Meals on Wheels Program for all your time, support and care during Pats long-term illness. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory.  Following the Memorial Service please join us at the Hernandez Community Center for a reception to share stories and memories of Patricio (Pats) life.

Lionel Carlitos Martinez of El Llano

Lionel Carlitos Martinez, 42, a resident of El Llano, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Lionel was preceded in death by his father, Epimenio Martinez; sister, Anna M. Ortiz; nephew, Dominic Ortiz; maternal grandparents who raised him, Clotario and Orlinda Martinez; paternal grandparents, Eloy and Cleotilde Bustos-Martinez; uncles, James and Anthony Martinez; cousins, Pamela Cordova, Stephanie Salazar and cousins whom he considered siblings, Claudette Martinez and Joshua Chavez. Lionel loved music and low riders and enjoyed writing songs.

He loved spending his time outdoors, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed sports, especially playing basketball and baseball. Lionel is survived by the mother of his son, Adrina Vigil; son, Matthew Vigil; grandson, Santiago Vigil; mother, Sharon Dunsworth (Robert); step-father, Michael Ortiz; siblings, Daniel and Angel Ortiz, Adelina Martinez, Janaisa Maestas and Jonathan Chavez; maternal aunts and uncles, Pamela Flowers, Annette Gonzales (Anthony), Mark Chavez, and Joseph Martinez; paternal aunt and uncles, Cecilia Martinez-Salazar (Miguel), Dennis Martinez (Antoinette), Enrique Martinez and Michael Martinez, and numerous relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.

Public visitation was on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian was celebrated on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Anthony Gonzales, Bryan Garcia, Jonathon Chavez, Daniel Maestas, Michael Martinez and Enrique Martinez.

Diane Marie Garcia of El Guique

Diane Marie Garcia, 55, a resident of El Guique, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017. Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Angie DeHerrera; siblings, Charles DeHerrera Jr. and Denice Rivera.

Diane enjoyed cooking, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family. She was a loving and caring person and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Diane worked at Wal-Mart for 20 years, where she met and became friends with many people who grew to love her dearly. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to all her friends and coworkers for the friendship over the years.  She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Her son was her pride and joy.

Mrs. Garcia is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, David Garcia; son, D. David Garcia; father, Charles DeHerrera; sisters, Debra Aleman (Ivan) and Dawn Cordova (Essam) and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who she loved dearly.

Memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a burial at the El Guique Cemetery.
