Monika Romero of La Mesilla

Monika Romero, 75, a resident of La Mesilla, passed away following a long-fought illness on Saturday, May 18, 2019.  Monika was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis Mathes; brother, Peter Mathes; sisters-in-law, Linda Franco, Loren Pacheco, Angelina Arguello, brother-in-law, John Romero. 

Monika was a computer programmer for on Guard Services for 25 years before her retirement. She loved her job, animals, nature and family. Monika was born in Germany and moved to the United States at age 18. She had a contagious laughter and was eccentric and spiritual. Monika was passionate and at times stubborn. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Monika is survived by her son, Mike Mathes and fiancé Nicki Ripley of Artesia, NM; two grandsons, Bryan and Mikey Mathes both of Artesia, NM; sisters-in-law, Mary Garcia of La Mesilla, Patsy Roybal and husband Patrick of Denver, CO., and Lillian Lopez of Rodarte, NM, brother-in-law, Nelson Romero and wife Esther of Espanola and Tito Romero of Albuquerque and numerous relatives and friends.

Isabel A. Sanchez of Cordova

Isabel A. Sanchez, 65, a resident of Cordova, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2019 surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Remijio and Adelia Torrez; father-in-law, Dennis Sanchez; sister, Maria Floy Medart and husband Ralph; brothers, Polito and Adeliado Torrez; brothers-in-law, Eloy Lujan, Jesse Cordova, Sammy Cordova, Richard Cooper and Andy and Mary Sanchez; nephews, Ricky and Gerald Torrez.

Isabel enjoyed the outdoors, especially going to the horse races and spending time in the casino making new friends and enjoying visiting with old friends. She enjoyed participating in children’s sports and always was donating uniforms etc. She will be greatly missed.

Isabel is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bobby Sanchez; son, Dwayne Sanchez and wife Reina; grandchildren who were like her children, Dwayne (DJ) Sanchez and fiancé Alyssa, Breanna Sanchez and boyfriend Dino, Justin, Brayden, Tristen whom she loved and cherished very much, great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Owen of Cordova who would have been the joy of her life; ex daughter-in-law, Florance Sanchez and (Leon); mother-in-law, Carol Sanchez of Los Alamos; brothers, Gilbert (Erlinda)Torrez, Rowdy Torrez (Victoria), Lawrence (Nina) Torrez all of Cordova, sisters, Cloriada Sanchez (Arturo), Betty Torrez (Vicente) all of  Cordova, Julia Cooper of Oklahoma, Susie Cordova of Cundiyo, Belinda (Delbert) Roybal of El Rancho, Cathy Cordova of Cordova; sisters-in-law, Alicia  Torrez of Cordova and LouAnn (Albert) Gonzales of Los Alamos, ex sister-in-law, Rachael of Farmington; niece, Valerie Torrez Trujillo whom she took part in raising, and many nieces, nephews, God-daughter, God-sons, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Serving the family as pallbearers are; Dwayne, Sr., Dwayne, Jr, Justin, Freddie, JD Roybal, Marty, Rowdy, Anthony, and Andrew. Honorary pallbearers are, Breanna and Dino and Owen, Alyssa, Adalyn, Brayden, Tristen, Florence and Leon.

Larry F. Sanchez of La Puebla,

Larry F. Sanchez,61, a lifelong resident of La Puebla, N.M. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019 with his daughter and grandbaby at his side.

Larry was a well-known contractor who took joy in creating something out of nothing. His tile remodels were a work of art and he could fix anything. He enjoyed fishing, vacations to Mexico, farming, cars, and spending time with friends and family. His grandbaby Liliana was the light of his life. They spent their mornings “cruising” around in his wheelchair. Larry was loyal, generous, helpful, and could put a smile on anyone’s face. His laughter was truly contagious, and he is greatly missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Teofilo and Maria Abeyta, mother Sally Abeyta, best friend and son, Bryan Sanchez, uncles; Wences, Epimenio, and Tony Abeyta, aunts; Severa DeAguero and Senaida Quintana and best friend Michael Lopez. He is survived by his loving daughter, Elena Bauer and husband Emmet, precious grandchildren Little Emmet and Lilliana Bauer, mother of his children, Rita Sanchez, and countless relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank to his doctors and Ambercare Hospice for the wonderful respect and care Larry received during his final days.
