Staff Reporter Sports Report

The 2015-2016 Northern New Mexico College’s women's basketball season looks to be exciting as a new group of recruits joins an already solid list of returners which includes  Francine Clark and shooting guard Demetria Clichee.  New Head Coach Tony Gallegos, takes over the women's program with the help of Associate head coach Mandy Montoya.  "The women returners have come ready to play, and Coach Montoya really did a great job in the offseason finding a great recruiting class that should keep us competitive night after night" Coach Gallegos said.  Some new faces to the Lady Eagles include Cheyenne Cordova (Tierra Amarilla, NM), Jackie Martinez (Santa Fe, NM) and Jocelyn Edmond (Albuquerque, NM).  "Its hard to not say something about all of our women, because each one brings a skill set that is unique and valuable to this team." Coach Gallegos. Northern opens the season with a home game on October 30, 2015 versus the University of the Southwest.

Stay tuned to Valley Daily Post POST Sports for more on the NNMC Athletic program as the season unfolds.
