March 2019 Library Activities and Events

These are the March events at the Española Public Library, 313 N Paseo de Oñate, 505-747-6087. Although some events require registration, all events are free.

March 11 – Coffee with a Cop         9:30 – 10:45 a.m.
Coffee with a Cop is a nation program with no agenda or speeches. The event is an opportunity to ask question, voice concerns and get to know the officers in your community.
March 12 – Plant a Flower Day       3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Spring is just around the corner, and March 12th is the day to participate in National Plant a Flower Day.  Each year this day is dedicated to the planting of flowers and looking forward to the spring season.  Flower gardening has become a hobby for many, young and old, and National Plant a Flower Day is a start to the new season each year.
March 13 – Leprechaun Hat Craft             3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Come by the library and make a leprechaun hat, and once you are finished search for your gold coins throughout the library and fill your leprechaun hat with gold treasures!
March 14 – Story Hour        10 – 11 a.m.
Tammy will be reading “Ben Bear’s Pot of Gold”, after story hour they will be making foam bracelets.
March 15 – Free Family Movie Night “Green Book”       5 – 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation. Free popcorn!
March 20 – Free Movie Day “How to Train your Dragon”         3:30
 – 5:30 p.m.
Hiccup is a Norse teenager from the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. His progressive views and weird sense of humor make him a misfit, despite the fact that his father is chief of the clan. Tossed into dragon-fighting school, he endeavors to prove himself as a true Viking, but when he befriends an injured dragon he names Toothless, he has the chance to plot a new course for his people's future.
March 21 – Story Hour        10 – 11 a.m.
Join Tammy for story hour as she reads “Hopper Hunts for spring” and stay for a rainbow blower’s craft.
March 25 – DIY Wine Cork Bulletin Boards Craft          3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Join Lucy as she shows you how to create your very own wine cork bulletin boards, you can use it to pin messages, photos, or keys. Please call Lucy at 747-6088 or sign up at the circulation desk.
March 26 – Coffee with a Cop         9:30 – 10:45 a.m.

March 27 – Key Wind Chimes        4 – 5 p.m.
Join us as we create wind chimes with keys, we have lots of keys and supplies all you need to bring is your imagination!
March 28 – Story Hour        10 – 11 a.m.
Stop by as Tammy reads “Mister Seahorse” and stay for a seahorse craft activity. 
March 28 – STEM Box Activity “Creature Features-Discovering Animals”     3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Come and join in on some STEM fun and create a creature, find camouflaged critters, or look up close using magnifiers, microscopes and lenses.
March 29 – Make your own Lego Creations          3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Join Michael in creating cool Lego creations, all you need to bring is your imagination! All supplies provided and even better you get to take home your creation! Call Michael at 747-6090 to sign yourself up or your children.
