Luján Statement on Trump Administration’s Ban on Transgender Servicemembers

Washington, D.C. – U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) issued the following statement after the Trump administration announced that their ban on transgender individuals serving in the military would go into effect on April 12:

"President Trump's insistence on implementing a disgusting and bigoted ban on transgender individuals serving our country is as dangerous as it is morally reprehensible. Transgender individuals have served in our military with gallantry and honor. They should be rewarded for their sacrifice, not ostracized by their commander-in-chief."
