Heinrich In Northern N.M. To Announce Legislation To Designate Bandelier As National Park, Host Opioid Grants Workshop 

SANTA FE, N.M. – On Wednesday, March 20, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will be in northern New Mexico to announce legislation to establish Bandelier National Monument as a national park and host an opioid grants workshop in Española aimed at combating substance use disorders.

At 9:45 a.m., Senator Heinrich will deliver opening remarks at a federal grants workshop his office is hosting in Española aimed at connecting local health care providers, government officials, and advocates to resources to combat the opioids epidemic.

At 2 p.m., Senator Heinrich will announce legislation to establish Bandelier National Monument as a national park with support from tribal leaders, local elected officials, and community leaders. Speakers include Santa Clara Governor Michael Chavarria, Santo Domingo Governor Joe M. Aguilar, Los Alamos County Councilor David Izraelivitz, and Jesse Deubel of the New Mexico Wildlife Federation.
