Espanola Police Rescue Taos Girl From Abductor

Early Sunday morning Espanola City Police successfully located a juvenile who had been the subject of a frantic Amber Alert search. Her abductor was also taken into custody.
Late Saturday night New Mexico State Police issued an Amber Alert for a 15-year-old female child named Angelica Valdez. This child is described as being 4 feet 2 inches tall, 104 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The abductor and child were last seen Saturday evening in the area of #75 Santa Barbara Road in Penasco.

The suspected abductor is Christian Orozoco. The Taos County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Saturday Orozco forced his way into a Penasco area home, held two grandparents at gunpoint and threatened to kill them. Deputies say Orozco then abducted Angelica Valdez and took off in a brown-colored car.
Family members reported that Orozco and Valdez were in a recent, violent relationship.
Orozco is also a wanted felon from a January 2017 kidnapping and assault case out of Rio Arriba County.
Orozoco is described as a 21-year-old hispanic, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, wearing blue jeans and a dark colored hooded jacket.
The Taos County Sheriffs Office was contacted Saturday at approximately 6:51 p.m., in reference to a child being abducted.
