Near record warmth will continue today and Friday, then a couple storm systems will bring cooler air, wind, and precipitation this weekend into early next week.
Temperatures will continue to rise with more snow melting in eastern NM. Daytime highs wil reach the 50's and 60's over most of northern and central New Mexico today.
Above average warmth will continue with many locations observing temperatures in the upper 70's and 80's today. A few locations may even reach record highs for today.
Temperatures will be a little cooler compared to yesterday, but will remain above normal for most of the area. With dry and breezy to windy conditions across northwest and central NM, critical fire weather conditions will be a concern through this evening. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Northwest Plateau and portions of the RGV today.
Another day of near to record breaking heat is expected across the area. Afternoon winds will turn breezy across the Northwest Plateau, the RGV, and the east central plains.
