The LANL Foundation offers scholarships via the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) to high school graduates and current undergraduate students from Northern New Mexico to pursue 4-year degrees. The application for 4-year awards opens in October and the deadline is in late January. 
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Northern New Mexico College is reporting an 11 percent increase in student headcount enrollment for the 2020 Fall semester, and a 3 percent increase in total student credit hours taken, the College’s highest enrollment since 2014.
The Los Alamos School Board met on Thursday, Aug. 27 for a work session. All board members were in attendance. In addition, over 300 parents, students, staff and community members viewed the meeting via Zoom.
Los Alamos (UNM-LA) continues to welcome new students for Fall classes, which begin August 17. Financial aid and scholarship opportunities are still available for incoming students.
The Los Alamos Public School Board met virtually for a work session on Thursday. All board members were in attendance. The Board started the meeting by recognizing members of the Safe Start Task Force who spent numerous hours over the past few months putting together the Safe Start Task Force Report.
During June and July 2020, Los Alamos Public Schools offered Summer Institute, an opportunity for LAPS employees to receive exceptional professional development. While some outside experts were hired to present, most courses were taught by LAPS employees.
