Wednesday: Udall to Lead Indian Affairs Business Meeting on Critical Water Rights Bill

Committee will consider Udall-sponsored Indian Water Rights Settlement Extension Act.

WASHINGTON – Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. MT, U.S. Senator Tom Udall, vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, will join Chairman John Hoeven in leading a business meeting to consider two bills, including S. 886, Udall’s Indian Water Rights Settlement Extension Act to make the Reclamation Water Settlements Fund permanent and provide certainty to Tribal communities.  

The bills before the committee include:

  • S. 886Indian Water Rights Settlement Extension Act
  • S. 2071RESPECT Act, A bill to repeal certain obsolete laws relating to Indians
