Veterans Can Now Ride FREE On NCRTD Premium Fare Based Routes

While riding on 19 of the NCRTD’s bus routes remains fare-free to all, veterans can now ride free on the District’s fare-based Mountain Trail route to Ski Santa Fe and the weekend Taos Express which offers express service between Taos, Española and Santa Fe, as well as two demand service routes.

Upon boarding any of the NCRTD fare-based routes, veterans must present a veterans ID photo badge or valid New Mexico driver’s license, with a veteran’s designation, and their fare will be waived.

“Veterans have made a great sacrifice to all of us and we want to thank them for their service to our country and to the people of the United States,” stated NCRTD Executive Director, Anthony Mortillaro. “We are proud to offer this benefit.”

The NCRTD joins Rio Metro RTD, operator of the NM Rail Runner Express and the City of Santa Fe’s Santa Fe Trails bus transit system in offering this show of gratitude to our nation’s vets.

The North Central Regional Transit District provides fare-free and premium fare-based bus service to a service area that encompasses over 10,000 square miles of north central New Mexico including the counties of Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe and Taos; the Cities of Santa Fe and Española and the Towns of Taos and Edgewood; as well as the Pueblos of Pojoaque, Ohkay Owingeh, Nambé, San Ildefonso, Santa Clara and Tesuque. The company’s signature “RTD Blue Buses” provide additional transit connections to New Mexico Rail Runner, Santa Fe Trails, New Mexico Park and Ride, Los Alamos Atomic City Transit and Red River Miner’s Transit.
