Valles Caldera Hosts Annual Fiesta En El Valle
The Valles Caldera National Preserve is hosting the second annual “Fiesta en el Valle” noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8 near the Valle Grande Entrance Station.
Pack a picnic basket and a blanket to enjoy the Valle Grande and learn a new skill at this free family-friendly event.
We’ll bring the valle, you bring your lunch and an appetite for the outdoors! You may also want to bring along your walking shoes, camera, sun hat, hula hoop, some grandparents, the kids next door, yoga mat, canvas and easel, your favorite Tia, a ukulele or harmonica, and your curiosity.
Visitors will get the inside scoop on Park Ranger favorite hikes, the best ways to recreate on the preserve, and easy ways to keep yourself and your loved ones safe in the outdoors. Park staff and volunteers will lead guided hikes to see aspen carvings and explore Valle Grande pond.
Other activities focus on geology, plant safety, navigation tips, fly tying, fly fishing, Leave No Trace, Bark Ranger, and Volunteer-In-Parks.
“Outdoor safety is key to enjoying our public lands,” Superintendent Jorge Silva-Bañuelos said. “With this event we hope to empower visitors to become more confident in the outdoors, while inspiring them to try out something new at Valles Caldera.”
