Update: Hazardous Weather Lookout
The National Weather Service has issued this hazardous weather outlook for portions of northern and central New Mexico.
DAY ONE…Today and Tonight
A few snow showers will move into western New Mexico late today and tonight as a low pressure system approaches the state. Areas of lower visibility and a couple to a few inches of snow accumulation will begin to create some travel impacts in western parts of the state. Areas of fog may develop in eastern New Mexico tonight, limiting visibility to less than a mile.
Days Two Through Seven…Wednesday through Monday
The previously mentioned low pressure system will move directly over New Mexico on Wednesday producing scattered to widespread rain and snow showers. Snow accumulations will be most likely in western and northern New Mexico, particularly in the higher terrain. A few inches of localized accumulations will also be possible in the central and south central mountains.
A second low pressure system will impact New Mexico late Thursday into Friday, bringing much colder temperatures and another round of snow to a large part of the state. A few to several inches of snow accumulation will be possible for many locations, and temperatures may struggle to rise above freezing for much of the state on both
