Udall to Speak on the Senate Floor on Interior Funding Bill

WASHINGTON – Today, Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at approximately 11:00 a.m. ET/9:00 a.m. MT, U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-N.M.), lead Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies, will speak on the Senate floor in support of the Senate’s Fiscal Year 2020 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.

Udall will outline the major victories he helped secure in the bill for the nation and New Mexico, including strong investments in public lands, infrastructure, environmental protection, programs for Indian Country, and for the arts and humanities. Udall will also highlight the bill’s protections for Chaco Canyon, which direct the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to refrain from leasing within a 10-mile radius of the park and provide $1 million for a survey of cultural resources in the broader Chacoan region.

Udall will speak following Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.
