Teatro Paraguas: Flamenco Fiesta 2019 Spring Student Recital And Sevillanas Contest March 22-23

Teatro Paraguas and Compañía Chuscales & Mina Fajardo present Flamenco Fiesta 2019 — Spring Student Recital and Sevillanas Contest.

The Spring Student Recital is 5:30 p.m., and Sevillanas Contest is 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday March 22-23 at Teatro Paraguas, 3205 Calle Marie in Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe-based world-renowned Flamenco group, Compañia Chuscales y Mina Fajardo, will perform once again at Teatro Paraguas with their flamenco students!

Students solo dancers for Flamenco Fiesta 2019 include Janira Cordova, Sveta Backhaus, Charo Shaffer-Perez, Lacey Romero, Heather Miro, Xochitl Ehrl and others. Mina Fajardo performs as well. Chuscales accompanies the dancers on guitar, as does Alejandro Valle on cajón.

The Spring Student Recital is 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. The first annual Sevillanas contest in Santa Fe is 7-9 p.m., in honor of Semana Santa in Spain.

Tickets are $25 general admission, and $20 for seniors and students, and good for both the Spring Student Recital and the Sevillanas Contest

All contestants who wish to compete in the Sevillanas Contest must come with their partner. Up to 12 couples may dance each night. There is a $20 entry fee for each couple. Prizes include gift cards, class free passes and more. Wear favorite flamenco attire!

Mina Fajardo teaches flamenco dance classes for Santa Fe Community College, NNMC Continuing Education Program, Moving Arts Española, CasaBlanca Studios/Los Niños de Santa Fe, Española Public School and Taos Youth Ballet. Mina’s classes cover all ages and all different levels of experience.
