SFIS Lady Braves Advance With Comeback Win Over St.Mike’s

In District 2-3A girls basketball tournament action, the Lady Braves of SFIS earned a huge win Wednesday night against the Lady Horsemen of St. Micheal’s High School 48-45.

The Lady Braves came from behind after spotting St. Mike’s 16 points in the first quarter. St. Mike’s found themselves in the drivers seat on as they poured it on early in the game. The Lady Horsemen were up 20-4 at the end of the first quarter.

SFIS fought back to get within 9 points going into halftime down 27-18.

The second half had the Pueblo Pavilion crowd on the edge of their seats as they watched the Lady Braves come all the way back and take the lead late in the 4th quarter. At the end of regulation, the Lady Braves came out on top 48-45.

With the win, the Lady Braves have earned themselves another game and advance to take on the Lady Cardinals of Robertson High School. SFIS travels to Robertson tonight to play the higher seeded Lady Cardinals.

The winner of tonight’s match-up advances to take on the West Las Vegas Lady Dons who won the regular season tie-breaker in a 1-game district playoff against Robertson on Monday night 68-53. Tip-off for tonight’s match-up in Las Vegas is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
