Liver Down The River
Secret City Concert Series In Los Alamos This Summer
The Secret City Concert Series provides free entertainment Friday evenings at Ashley Pond Park in Los Alamos between now and Aug. 30.
June concerts are:
June 7, Liver Down The River takes the stage at 8 p.m. as the featured act.
Liver Down The River is a six-piece jam style bluegrass group from the beautiful mountains of Durango. The band incorporates elements of funk, rock, celtic, and Irish music into their sound.
Their story began in the fall of 2012, when mandolin/harmonica player Patrick Storen met lead vocalist/guitar player Matt Granzow. The pair had an impromptu jam session in the Bader Snyder Dorm room of Fort Lewis College in Durango.
Together they began experimenting with bluegrass music, and incorporated their eclectic styles on traditional Grateful Dead tunes. That day spawned a lifelong friendship between the pair, and before long they were picking every afternoon.
Soon after, Emily Aguirre-Winter got word of these acoustic picking sessions and began accompanying them with her viola and phenomenal vocal range. Aguirre- Winter adds the melodic vocal beauty to Liver Down The River’s music, and her classically trained musical background initiates refreshing and angelic textures to each creative composition.
Aguirre-Winter adds a wonderful flavor to the group with her songwriting craftsmanship, and ability to pinpoint powerful harmonies and echoing call and response found on ‘Shot O’ Booze’ and ‘Murder Ballad’.
The concert is sponsored by the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce as part of Chamberfest.

Katy P and the Business will be performing June 28 and is the most high energy dance band in New Mexico. They were voted (by popular vote) best band in Taos in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Fronted by Katy P. and backed by a tight trio of musicians, the band has been one of Taos’ real crowd-pleasers since it was formed years ago.
As the lead singer for Katy P and The Business, she is known for her big- hearted (one might even say Olympian) vocal gymnastics. Singing soul, funk and rock and roll, Palmier knows how to pull every ounce of oomph from a song and deliver it up steaming to her audience. With her natural talent and contagious enthusiasm, she could get away with less, but she doesn’t.
The Katy P and the Business Concert is sponsored by N3B.
All concerts are in the pavilion at Ashley Pond Park. The evenings begin with a children’s concert or activity at 6 p.m., followed by a warm-up act at 6 p.m. and the headliner takes the stage at 8 p.m.
