Science Showdown Packs The House Sunday Afternoon
ESPAÑOLA — Sunday afternoon the first ever Northern New Mexico Science Showdown took place at the Holy Cross Gym in Santa Cruz. An estimated 400 people attended the event which was free and open to the public and had 14 organizations participating in offering fun science based activities for young scientists of all ages.
Event organizers designed the activities to provide a positive, drug-free, family event for the entire community using hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities.
Sponsors for the event included Century Bank, Planetarium, Ghost Ranch, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science, New Mexico Highlands University, Balloon Emporium, Mathamuseum, Oasis of Peace Youth Group, and the ¡explora! Center.
