School Statement: Former Espanola Valley High School Student Found In Possession Of Loaded Firearm On Campus

Espanola Valley High School: A former EVHS student was found in the earlier afternoon Thursday in the gym by an EVHS security officer. When officers tried to question him, he exited the gym and left campus. Dispatch was called. Approximately 40 minutes later the suspect returned to campus and was apprehended and taken into custody by Rio Arriba County Deputy Sheriff, Mark Webb.

Rio Arriba County Sheriff, James Lujan, has confirmed the former student was in possession of a loaded firearm and knife when taken into custody earlier this afternoon.

The school will remain on lockdown while law enforcement completes the investigation.
