School For The Arts: Art Spring 2019 – Metamorphosis
SANTA FE ― New Mexico School for the Arts will hold its 9th annual, collaborative performance and benefit at 6 p.m., May 17 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center followed by a Gala celebration at the Eldorado Hotel.
The stage performance will feature the collaborative efforts of students from all five major disciplines at NMSA: creative writing and literature, dance, music (vocal and instrumental), theatre, and visual arts. After the show, students will lead a procession to the Eldorado Hotel for the Gala event where patrons will enjoy dinner, music and dancing.
“Every year we share the best of the best student performances where departments collaborate in the creation and presentation of original and established works,” Director of Arts Joey Chavez said. “This year’s collaboration will include Dance with Instrumental Music and Digital Media; Theatre with Visual Arts and Music; and Creative Writing; and an All-Department finale which promises to get your toes tapping, and make you want to get up and dance!”
Proceeds from this event are critical to funding the operating costs of the arts, residential dormitory and community outreach programs of the public, tuition-free high school. Private sector donations and foundation support close the gap in funding that is necessary to providing the dual-curriculum mastery arts education the NMSA is acclaimed for.
