RoboRAVE & Science Showdown Heading To Town
The 2017 RoboRAVE and Science Showdown for northern New Mexico is heading back to the Espanola Valley on March 11. RoboRAVe teaches students and teachers how to design, build and test robots while having fun. Having the Science Showdown at the same time provides opportunities for the community to participate and experience a variety of hands-on, inquiry-based exhibits. This year everyone will also be able to participate in a new activity which are the drone fights. Attendees can bring their own or use one that will be provided. They have to be a size that will fit in the palm of a hand. It should be a fun-filled day for all ages.
The day of activities is sponsored by Los Alamos National Laboratory through its Community Commitment Plan. Janelle Vigil-Maestas with the LANL Community Programs Office said of their sponsorship of the program “Our support of programs such as these help spark an interest in science and technology that can lead students toward success in school. We also believe that these types of hands-on experiences will also encourage students to pursue STEM careers in the future.”
