Rep. Ben Ray Luján to Lead Panel Discussion On Opioid Crisis and Host Naloxone Training Session
[SANTA FE, NM] – On Friday, November 10th Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) will moderate a panel discussion by local leaders on the opioid crisis in northern New Mexico. The panel discussion will be preceded by a training session on the use of naloxone. Both events will take place at the Carlos F. Vigil Middle School in Española, New Mexico.
The Congressman will moderate a panel of local leaders to discuss activities, programs and funding that have been effective in addressing the opioid crisis in New Mexico and to answer questions from the audience on this issue. Panel participants will include Shelly Moeller (Program Manager, Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion, Pre-Booking Diversion Program), Ron Riddle (Assistant Special Agent In Charge, DEA), Brian McMath (Assistant Attorney General, New Mexico Office of the Attorney General), Ambrose Baros (Executive Director, HOY Recovery Program), and Amy Wilson (Director of Community-Based Programs, Presbyterian Española Hospital).
In addition to the panel discussion, local experts will lead a training session on the correct use of naloxone, a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose.
