Pueblo de San Ildefonso News:
SANTA FE – A ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Sept. 11 at for the completed .3 miles of sidewalk that connects with the San Ildefonso Elementary School with the Learning Center/Library and Gymnasium.
The event will begin at the San Ildefonso Day School at 36 Tunyo Po, Santa Fe, N.M. 87506.
This pedestrian crossing and sidewalk will create a safe place for youth to walk to school and increase their physical activity.
“The pueblo is excited to build this sidewalk to encourage our youth to walk to school,” said Pueblo Transportation Planning Manager Lillian Garcia of Pueblo de San Ildefonso.
The pedestrian crossing and sidewalk was completed in May 2019 through Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) and Safe Routes to School funding from New Mexico Department of Transportation. The Pueblo is exploring a future trail system.
“Our partners should be commended for completing the pedestrian crossing and sidewalk and planning for the trail system,” said Pueblo of San Ildefonso Governor Perry Martinez.
Partners include: Pueblo of San Ildefonso, New Mexico Department of Transportation, New Mexico Department of Health and the National Park Service, Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program.
