Obituary: Pete Jose (Pitbull) Chavez of Espanola

PETE JOSE (PITBULL) CHAVEZ, III, 29, a resident of Española, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose Pedro and Magdalena Chavez, and Orlando Lalo Martinez; and uncle, Larry Orly Martinez.

Pete had a passion for music and his cars. He was always outside washing and cleaning his car.  He enjoyed spending time with his nephew and nieces.  In his own words they were his “babies.”  The love he shared with them will always be in their hearts, along with the wonderful memories of their “Uncle” as they called him.  He often said, “these kids have such energy,” and I’m going to thrive on it. Pete was an avid sportsmen, who loved hunting, fishing, camping and riding his ATV. He loved lifting weights and working out. His second home away from home was the gym. But most of all he loved lifting everyone’s spirits, by his daily inspirational quotes, which touched so many hearts.  He read the bible on a daily basis.  He highlighted this verse on his last reading, Acts13:32, “You are my son; today I have become your father. God raised him from the dead, so that he will never be subject to decay. As God as said, “I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.”  “You will not let your holy one see decay.”
