Obituary: Cathy Lorraine Nogar Of La Mesilla
Obituary: Cathy Lorraine Nogar, 91, a resident of La Mesilla, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015.
A lifelong dog aficionada, Cathy helped found the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club and was well known in the dog breeding world, as much for her Hopi Kachina Dalmatians as for her work as a respected dog show judge. Cathy loved to be active, first in showing and jumping horses in her native Chicago, and later enjoying the community at East Park Pool and later at the Espanola Valley pool. Her sense of humor and joie de vivre were contagious, and her love of books and reading voracious.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Nogar and their only child Nicholas Nogar. Cathy is survived by her grandchildren, Anna Nogar and husband Peter Marlantes and their children, Nico and Eva Marlantes, Josh Nogar and wife Andrea Bedrosian, Carmella Nogar, daughter-in-law, Marcella Nogar, grand-dogs, Ronin and Tsunami; close friends, Sissy and Mike Henke and Ed Flock, plus many caring friends, and her devoted caregiver, D McDowell.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Española Presbyterian Hospital for the loving care that they provided over the years to Cathy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Española Animal Shelter or to the Dalmatian Club of America.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church in Los Alamos.
The family of Cathy Lorraine Nogar has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505.747.7477 – www.devargasfuneral.com
