Renee A. Martinez, 43, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Renee was preceded in death by her daughter, Janaee Martinez; mother, Loraine Martinez, father, Savino Martinez; grandparents, Antonio and Gregoria Martinez; brothers, Benjie and Tomas Martinez; uncles, Gilberto Martinez, aunt, Olga Martinez; cousins, Evan Martinez, Donna Martinez, and Anthony Martinez.

Renee is survived by her daughter, Destinee M. Martinez; father of her daughter, Chris Alcala; uncle and aunts, Jessie and Elena Martinez, Orlinda Martinez, and Lucresia Martinez; cousins, Edward (Ayraelle) Martinez, Jared (Rebecca Valdez) and Noah Martinez, Johnny and Andrea, Javon, Tamara, Evan, Earl, Ambros, Austin, Alicia Deangelo Martinez, Antonio Antionette, Thomas (DeeDee Ramirez), Jolyn, and Andres; niece, Angel Martinez.

Consuelo Helen MontoyaConsuelo Helen Montoya, 80, a resident of Chama, passed away of Natural Causes on Sunday, January 6, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Montoya; father, Candido Moya, mother, Sophia Serrano; sisters, Mela Salazar, Grace Short, Lupita Martinez and Teresa Martinez, brothers, Onofre Moya, Cerriaco Moya, and Emilio Moya.

Consuelo is survived by her sons, Freddie Montoya of Albuquerque, Danny Montoya of Alamosa Colorado, Manuel Montoya of Pagosa Springs Colorado, Ricky Montoya, daughters, Gloria Abeyta of Farmington, Sophie Portillo of Albuquerque, Charlene Vandenhual of Rio Rancho, Manuelita Carr of Mountain Air, NM, Theresa Diaz of Albuquerque, and Hope Bentacu of Albuquerque.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama, with a burial to follow at the Chama Cemetery.

Viola S. Morfin of Albuquerque

Viola S. MorfinViola S. Morfin, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, and born in Youngsville, passed away of natural causes, surrounded by her loved ones on January 12, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Morfin, Sr.; daughter, Lorraine Romero; infant son, Joseph Morfin; mother, Raquel Serrano; father, Aquilino Serrano; step-mother, Patrocinia Serrano; brothers, Antonio Serrano, Adonis Serrano, and Benecio Serrano.

She was a homemaker that loved to spend time with her family. She always loved cooking for everyone and making the occasional trip to the casino. Watching the Colorado Rockies was one her favorite pastimes.

Mrs. Morfin is survived by daughter, Terri Oliger (Travis); sons, Marvin Morfin (Liz), Nelson Morfin, Jr., Louie Morfin (Sun-ae), Jerome Morfin, Steve Morfin (Jeretha), and Ken Morfin, very close granddaughter, Briana Salazar, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Public visitation will begin on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu. Burial to follow at the Youngsville Cemetery with her sons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
