Concha Martinez of Chimayo

Concha Martinez, 72, born on March 1, 1946 and a resident of Chimayo, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Concha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Raymond T. Martinez; parents, Max and Maria S. Martinez and Juan B. Lucero; mother and father-in-law, Teresita and Esquipula Martinez; and son-in-law Albert J. Diaz. Concha was a loving person who loved her family dearly.

Family, friends and God were very important to her and she loved us all. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Concha died as she lived and fought hard until the very end. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Concha is survived by her six loving children, Cindy (Josh), Annabelle, Elmer (Faith), Ronnie, Ray (Barbara) and Connie (Jody); her precious grandchildren whom she raised as her own and loved so dearly, Jaden, Danika and Amanda Martinez; grandchildren, Ray Jr., Jeremy, Angel, Justin, Shaylee Ray, Daveigh, Ashley, Jolene, Albert, John Paul, Javen and Serenity; great-grandchildren, Raquel, Jeremy Jr., Alma, Elsie, Karlee Rae, Kaylee Rae and Kaleb; sisters, Judy Martinez (Paul), Cathy Vissaraga (Paul), Mary Ortiz (Jimmy), Helen Martinez, Israel Martinez (Edna), Tony Martinez (Evila), Herson Vigil (Jane) and Max Martinez; God-daughters, Angel and Jennifer and  long list of nieces, nephews and many other extended relatives and friends. The family wants you to know how important you all were to her.

A rosary was recited on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. also at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo.

Serving the family as pallbearers was Ronnie, Elmer, Justin, Jeremy, Ray Jr., Jaden, Albert and Josh. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Praxedez Martinez, 80, a resident of Ranchitos, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Praxedez was preceded in death by his infant daughter; mother, Margarita Vigil; step-father, Antonio M. Vigil and sisters, Celestina Maes and Emilia Vigil.

Praxedez was born and raised in Canjilon and later in life settled in Española. He was a member of the UA Local 412 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Praxedez is survived by his wife, Sylvia; children, Roman and David Martinez; granddaughters, Raquel and Juliana; sisters, Celina (Margarito) Martinez and Beatrice (Fermin) Perea; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Gene) Martinez, Livia Olguin and Lonnie Martinez; brother-in-law, Tiburcio Vigil; cousin, Rosalie Bustos; special friend, Leo Olguin as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Services are pending at this time and will be announced as soon as they become available. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Joel Vigil, Dickie Vigil, Emiliano Salazar, Tomas Maes, Johnny Martinez and Leo Olguin.

Matthew V. Trujillo

Matthew V. Trujillo, 60, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, peacefully surrounded by his brother, Mark, his aunt, Marie Pacheco, cousins, Thelma Salazar, Tim Pacheco and Cynthia Borrego by his side.

Matthew was born May 12, 1958 to Ismael and Eliza B. Trujillo in Santa Fe and was raised in Española. He graduated from Mc Curdy High School and went on to UNM, graduating with a degree Economic Development. He then went on to the University of Illinois in Urbana and received a Master’s in Urban Planning and continued on for his 2nd Masters at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with honors with a Masters in Investment Banking.

Matthew started his career in Toronto, Canada as vice president of the Melon Bank, then went on to Chicago and was the vice president of BANCA COMMERCIALE ITALIANA and Vice president of the Japan’s SMBC Nikko Securities, a bank Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Investment Group. Matthew was also a very talented artist with oils, pottery and jewelry. He was an exceptional intellectual gentle human being who could talk at length about any subject. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Ismael and Eliza B. Trujillo of Valley Estates (Española); infant brother, Joseph Mel; grandparents, Vicente and Beronice Borrego of Santo Nino and E.D and Ramonita Trujillo of Riverside and Chimayo.

Mr. Trujillo is survived by his brother, Mark Trujillo; aunt, Marie Pacheco; cousins, Thelma Salazar (Andrew), Tina Sandoval (Curtis) and Tim Pacheco (Theresa) and many other relatives and friends. The Trujillo family would like to extend a special thanks to the following for visiting with Matt during his final days and hours. Marie B. Pacheco, Thelma (Pacheco) Salazar and husband Andrew, Tina (Pacheco) Sandoval, Tim Pacheco, Abq Councilor Cynthia Borrego, State Senator Richard C. Martinez, 1st District Attorney Marco P. On a special note of recognition, God sent Matthew an angel of love, acceptance and care. Our aunt Marie opened her heart and home to care for Matt while he bravely struggled to regain his health.  Aunt Marie we love you and thank you for accepting our brother unconditionally. A celebration of Matthews life will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church with Father Javier Gutierrez, Father Joseph Vigil and Father Tomas Carvajal officiating.
