Manuel P. “Manny” Rivera of Española
Manuel P. Rivera “Manny”, 19, a resident of Española, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan A. Rivera; great-grandparents, Antonio and Elisa Rivera, Pedro and Beronica Garcia and Pat and Rose Hoover; grandmothers, Elizabeth Anne Rodriguez, and Ninfa Gallegos; uncles, Richard Gallegos, and Albert Rodriguez.
Manuel loved bull riding, racing cars, bike riding, hunting and hanging out with his friends. But most of all he loved working on his car.
Manuel is survived by his mother, Lisa Romero (Billy); loving guardian, Mary Terrazas; siblings, Juan Rivera (Ashley), Roseann Rivera (Eric), Nelson Terrazas (April), Ray Terrazas Jr., and Alexandria Terrazas (Gill); nieces, Maria Ninfa Lopez, and Sativa Moquino; nephews, Emilliano Garcia; Lucus Terrazas; girlfriend, Mondae Rendon; grandfathers, Juan Gallegos, and Benito Romero; God parents, Joe Medina and Joyce Garcia; and his best friends, Carlos Escarcega, Neri Tena, Ben Valdez, Adam Sanchez, Raymond Salinas, Kenneth Rendon, and many other relatives and friends.
Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, with a burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Juan Rivera Jr., Nelson Terrazas, Ray Jr., Felipe Tena, Carlos Escarcega, Gabriel Escarcega, Raymond Salinas, and Billy Romero.

Jessica Marie Gonzales of Española
Jessica Marie Gonzales, 27, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017. Jessica was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lucy Gonzales of Gallina; cousin, Patricia Cordova; and uncle, Johnny Gonzales of Gallina.
She worked as a teacher’s assistant at Las Cumbers preschool. Jessica loved all the children as much as they loved her, she was a positive energetic person that found the good in everyone. Jessica always offered a helping hand and would go over and beyond to make people happy. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jessica is survived by her adopted mother, Mary Gonzales of Española; companion, Paul Springfield of Espanola; sisters, Barbara Gonzales and husband Copio of Albuquerque, Evelyn Martinez and husband Ted of Chimayo, brother, Louis Martinez and wife Erica of Española; cousin, Melody Romero of Española; biological parents, Helen Herrera and Peter Gonzales, biological sisters, Barbara and Roxanne Gonzales and Melissa Herrera, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cared for dearly.
A rosary will be recited on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a Memorial mass to follow at 10:00 a.m.

Paul Ortega of Coyote
Paul Ortega, 47, a resident of Coyote, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017. Paul was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leopoldo and Rosario Ortega, maternal grandparents, Donaciano and Santana Salazar; uncle, Severeo Ortega.
Paul was known to many as a compassionate, loving, hardworking person, the love of his life was his daughter, Bailee. He adored his wife and thanked her for giving him such a blessing.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his family it was always important to him especially his parents, his brothers, sister and his many friends. He was a Veteran and served in the Army National Guard. Paul will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Ortega; daughter, Bailee Ortega; parents, Henry and Lillian Ortega; sister, Carmella Ortega, brothers, Donathan Ortega and wife Elizabeth, Vernon Ortega; nieces, Robyn, Rochelle, and Mickayla Ortega and many relatives and friends.
Public visitation will begin on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Coyote, with a burial to follow at the Coyote Cemetery.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Carmella Ortega, Donathan Ortega, Vernon Ortega, Arnold Jacquez, Jerome Jacquez, and Marvin Lujan, honorary pallbearers are Johnny Leyba, Jacob Martinez and Alfred Martinez.
