Matilde Romero of Cordova

Matilde Romero, 95, a resident of Cordova, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Moises Romero; son, Adauto Romero; her parents, Adauto and Cleofas Romero; grandson, Brian Romero; sisters, Precedes Martinez, Frances Romero, Mabel Martinez, brothers, Nicomedes Romero, Juan Romero and Esequiel Romero; and in-laws, Victor and Beronis Romero. 

She loved farming, picking pinon, and being around all her family. Every chance Matilde would get she would love to go to the Casino.

Matilde is survived by her daughters, Consuelo Garcia, Imelda Gonzalez, Ida Rodriquez and husband Adrian, Sandra Romero and companion Daniel, sons, Silviano Romero, Ernesto Romero, raised as her own, Norman, Joey, and Victoria Romero, Flor, Peter, and Jaime whom she considered her own children; sisters, Angelica Rodriquez; brother-in-law, Arsenio Romero and wife Bernie, sister-in-law, Prescilla Romero; grandchildren, Yvonne, Carol, Michael (Susana), Matthew, Norman (Sharon), Rita (James), Markie, Adrian (Sonya), Gladys, Joelle (Daniel), Sammy, Joey (Anita), Tere (Fernando), Victoria (Jamie), Charlie (Jennifer), Flor, Pedro (Anna), Rebecca (Earl), and Jaime (Bianca);  28 great-grandchildren plus great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services are pending at this time and will be posted as soon they become available. Serving the family as pallbearers are Michael, Matthew, Markie, Adrian, Sammy, Joey, Pedro, and Jaime, honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren.

Robert (Bobby) Martinez of Chimayo

Robert (Bobby) Martinez, 31, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2019.  He was a loving father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, Godson and friend to many.  

Bobby had many jobs in his short life. He began working at the age of 14 when he was still in High School. He was an employee of Santa Maria El Mirador, Ponce De Leon, Contract Associates, Dish Network, and worked in the mailroom for the State of NM to name a few. He was a jack of all trades, salesmen, construction, music, photography. He really enjoyed working with people. He was friendly and outgoing.  Bobby was a kindhearted person who loved his family and friends dearly. He went out of his way to help others. He was compassionate, protective, and kind.  His passion for music, photography and media allowed him the opportunity to participate in film making and he created several short videos for numerous festivals. He received numerous awards and recognition for his participation in media projects and productions. He was a very talented drummer and had numerous performances in different bands.  He had a server certificate from the New Mexico Alcohol & Gaming Division. He loved taking black and white photos and processed/developed the pictures himself in his darkroom. He was very observant and comforting to anyone in need. He loved joking and laughing. He could always make a person laugh. His contagious smile and laughter will forever be imprinted on our hearts and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Marissa Martinez; grandfather, Patricio Martinez; grandmother, Connie Martinez; great-grandfathers, Leopoldo Gonzales, Augustine Bustos and Faustin Trujillo; great-grandmothers, Benilde Gonzales, Eulemia Trujillo, Lorencita Velarde, and Lucy Bustos. 

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Melorie Martinez of Medanales; son, Dominic Martinez of Ohkay Owingeh; mother, Linda Bustos (Roland Garcia) of Alcalde; father, Louis Martinez (Nathaniel Batista) of Albuquerque; grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Bustos of Alcalde; brother, Randy Martinez and Tylar of Fairview; uncles, Robert (Bobby) Bustos and Elysha of Fairview, Armando Martinez and Rosie of Santa Cruz, Larry Martinez and Sylvia of Santa Fe, Paul Martinez and Bernice of Espanola, Patrick Martinez of Espanola; aunts, Sheila Rivera and Gilbert of Espanola, Virginia Baca of Santa Fe, Antoinette Padilla and Ted of Ojo Caliente;  and numerous friends and cousins.

Public visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at La Villita Cemetery.
