Darren S. Lopez of La Puebla
by his maternal grandparents, Eddie and Lola Maestas, his paternal grandparents, Melisendro and Emma Lopez and his youngest brother Angelo M. Lopez.
Darren was a craftsman in the drywall industry in New Mexico and Nevada most of his life, he also worked for the State of New Mexico Highway Department, Santa Fe County and was working for N3B at LANL until he became ill. Darren will be remembered for his big personality who was full of life, energetic and liked to laugh. Darren also liked to read, play board games with family, listen to music, catch football and play basketball. Darren’s pride and joy were his two children.
Darren is survived by his father Charlie S. Lopez and wife Roxana and mother Pauline M. Martinez and husband Anthony; children, Gabriella Parissa-Sierra Lopez and Adrian Steve Lopez of Las Vegas, NV; siblings Shelly T. Landwehr and brother-in-law, Jerry of Las Vegas, NV, Carlo T. Lopez of Cuarteles, Nadia Lopez of La Puebla, Esther Manzanares of Espanola and Edward Manzanares of Vallecitos and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Truth Ministries Calvary Chapel in Arroyo Seco.

Thomas “Tommy” Martinez of Santa Cruz
Thomas “Tommy” Martinez, age 53, a life-long resident of Santa Cruz, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Martinez; grandparents Abelino and Faustina Martinez, Manuel and Carmelita Vigil; uncles Abel Martinez, Herbacio Martinez, Cayetano Martinez, Samuel Vigil, Manuel Vigil, Jr., Emilio Vigil, and Tony Vigil; aunts Genoveva Martinez, Priscilla Martinez, and Luisita King.
He is survived by his parents, Eppie and Rose Martinez; siblings Yolly Martinez, Tim (Myra) Martinez; spouse Claudine Romereau; children Tamara Martinez (Ricky), and Tanaya Martinez (Juan); stepchildren Brian, Kenny, Karlie, and Briannah Romereau; grandchildren Matthew Archuleta-Martinez, Lynessa Padilla, Ivory Martinez, and Diamond Dixon; nephew and nieces Carmelita Borrego (Andres), Brandon Martinez (Nicole), and Alysia Martinez; great nephew Ezraniah Borrego; uncles and aunts Elisa Cordova, Richard Martinez, Fidel (Loyda) Martinez, Mary Montoya, Isabel Torres, Jose (Esther) Vigil, and Alice (Robert) Gallegos.
Public Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 10 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Jody Archuleta, Sammy Cordova, Brandon Martinez, Chris Martinez, Chris McDermitt, Saul Medina, Jose Palomares, and Nathan Velasquez.

Monika Romero of La Mesilla
Monika Romero, 75, a resident of La Mesilla, passed away of a long-fought illness on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Monika was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Romero; parents, Ottis Mathes; brother, Peter Mathes; sisters-in-law, Linda Franco, Loren Pacheco, Angelina Arguello, brother-in-law, John Romero.
Monika was born in Berlin Germany on September 1, 1943. She had a memorable childhood brought up in a time of war and depression. Despite an upbringing in constant hostility. Monika worked and studied hard to gain employment for the government at the age of 18. Monika had a vast desire for intellectual knowledge and was an avid reader. Monika later became employed by the State of New Mexico for OnGuard Services as a computer analyst where she retired after 25 years of employment.
Monika was a beautiful, unique, carefree sprit that everybody loved and admired. Monika was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend. She was a traveler and a collector of anything that caught her eye. Monika saw the beauty and good in everything. She had a divine love for nature and enjoyed landscaping where she spent many hours creating her own eccentric, beautiful sanctuary. Monika was an extraordinary and spiritual woman. She was passionate about life and could be stubborn at times. Monika loved her life and the memories she created with family and friends. She will forever be loved and missed.
Monika was survived by her son, Mike Mathes and fiancé Nicki Ripley of Artesia, NM; two grandsons, Bryan and Mikey Mathes both of Artesia, NM; step daughter, Misty Romero of Colorado; sisters-in-law, Mary Garcia of La Mesilla, Patsy Roybal and husband Patrick of Denver, CO., and Lillian Lopez of Rodarte, NM, brother-in-law, Nelson Romero and wife Esther of Espanola and Tito Romero of Albuquerque and numerous relatives and friends.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
