Northern Eagles Sign Eric Coca

Tuesday Northern New Mexico College Athletics announced that the Espanola based college signed Eric Coca, a graduating senior from Santa Fe’s Capital High School.

Coca led Capital High School to a state runner-up finish and a district title this previous season. During his senior year in high school, Cocoa averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 3 steals per game.  Coca was also named to the Class 5A All-State first team, and district 2-5A player of the year. While at Capital, Coca played under former NNMC assistant coach, Ben Gomez. Ben Gomez coached with Ryan Cordova during Cordova’s inaugural season at Northern in 2011-2012.

“Adding Eric Coca to our team is a great accomplishment for our program. Coca brings a lot to the table as a freshman, and I can see him competing for playing time right away. His ability to run the floor and how he is able to use his length defensively really fits right into our system. I am excited for the years to come with Eric at Northern New Mexico.” Head Coach Ryan Cordova stated. “He comes from a great basketball coach, in Coach Gomez, and a winning program at Capital High School.”
