What: Congreso de las Acequias, 30th Anniversary Celebration
The annual Congreso de las Acequias is a dynamic gathering of acequias where cultural values about water are affirmed through art and music, updates about water, food, and agriculture are shared with acequia leaders, and resolutions that determine policy positions are deliberated and approved. Between 250 and 300 people with gather in Taos. Registration and more information is available at www.lasacequias.org.
This year, the Congreso will feature a new corrido, “Treinta Años de Lucha,” a ballad in the tradition of storytelling about important events in history, as well as the premier of a poem by Olivia Romo entitled “Fighting the Tragedy of the Commons.”

Why: The Congreso is the annual membership meeting of the New Mexico Acequia Association. The theme this year is “Celebrating 30 Years of the Acequia Movement in New Mexico.” The full program is available upon request.
