Newest Judge Visits With County Commissioners

TIERRA AMARILLA — Northern New Mexico’s newest District Court Judge, Jennifer Attrep attended Thursday’s County Rio Arriba Commission meeting in Tierra Amarilla to introduce herself to the County Commissioners and listen to their concerns.

Attrep, who was appointed to the First Judicial District Court by Governor Susana Martinez in February to fill a vacant position. Attrep’s appointment filled the vacancy created by the non-retention of Judge Sheri Raphaelson. Attrep will stand for election in the 2016 election cycle.

Attrep has previously served as a judge with the First Judicial District Court. She has a diverse background of legal experience, including criminal law, civil rights, contracts, securities and other areas.

Attrep holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Va.

Prior to joining the court, Attrep worked as an attorney in private practice in Santa Fe.
