New Mexico – West Texas Amateur Championship Tees Off In El Paso

Horizon City, Texas (June 9, 2020) – The Sun Country Amateur Golf Association will be kicking off the
2020 competitive golf season with its most prestigious event, the New Mexico – West Texas Amateur
Championship. The event is set to be held June 12-14, 2020 at Horizon Golf Club in Horizon City,

The event has players traveling in from around the region as they try to scratch their competitive itch
while many state and regional golf associations are yet to hold any championships. Many of the best
players from New Mexico and West Texas will be battling to identify the top amateur player in the
Sun Country.

The coveted tournament title features some great past winners such as Tommy Armour III, Bart
Bryant, Rich Beem, D.J. Brigman and others who have since won more than $30 million on
professional tours.

The 44th annual event will be heading down south to El Paso this year which will bring in plenty of

Tee times start at 8:00am each day of the Championship with the leaders going out in the final
