Marble Park Expo At McCurdy Cafeteria

Marble Park Expo At McCurdy Cafeteria

ESPAÑOLA – On Monday morning McCurdy Charter School’s fifth grade class taught by Zelda Jaramillo held their annual Marble Park Expo presentation. This annual event has the students teaching others about Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion by designing and building amusement park rides for marbles. The students design and build roller coasters, bumper cars, circle rides, swings and water rides, complete with marketing brochures that explain the rides and what law of motion is demonstrated in the process.

Every year for the past several years Zelda Jaramillo has used this event to teach physics to her fifth grade classes. Former students now return to act as the judges and students from all grades at the school take tours of the presentations and see demonstrations of the rides.

See below for some more images of the event and students’ creations.
