Nambé, N.M. – U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:
“On 9/11, our nation lost thousands of American lives in an act of unspeakable terror that remains one of the darkest days in our history. Today, we honor the lives of those who passed while recognizing the enduring American spirit that carries through today.
“The terrorist attacks carried out on September 11, 2001, shook our nation to its core. But in the days and weeks that followed, we saw Americans unite to help their loved ones and neighbors and mourn as one. Today, as our nation reckons with another crisis, we draw on that same bond to fight for a better future.”
