Letter To The Editor: Flooding On Bridge Needs County Attention
I am writing to you about the bridge on CR 99 that crosses a fast running river. The bridge is owned by Rio Arriba County who has not responded to the pleas of the families who live in the area to include elderly, disabled, and children. The bridge has collapsed previously and was pieced back together by the families living there. I am attaching photos to include one of the river after the recent rains.
Hospice workers, the Fire Department, and ambulance have refused to attempt to cross the bridge. I have emailed three Senators, but so far no response other than the automatic response thanking me for my comments and promising to be in touch. I have also emailed the Rio Grande Sun who recently wrote an article about the flooding in Chimayo, but who neglected to include this report after the residents reported it.
The people in the area need help.
